What exactly is overlanding?

Overlanding is vehicle-supported, self-reliant adventure travel where camping is the main form of lodging. It is about exploring what America has to offer, and traversing into the unknown. It is about the journey rather than the destination. It gives you the opportunity to experience the world and learn from it. 

Overlanding originated in the Australian outback, as a word to describe the herding of livestock across long distances. Today it means just what it sounds like: travel over land. 

Who can go overlanding?

Anyone and everyone! The most appealing aspect of overlanding is—anyone can do it. Overlanding is for those that want to escape the day-to-day madness of the city lights. For those that want to explore the wild and are willing to go find it. For those who long for adventure. For those that enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.

Overlanding is built upon the longing for adventure. You can go big or start small! Begin with a weekend here or there, then graduate onto longer and grander trips. Overlanding is for those willing to persevere, willing to explore, and have a strong desire to connect with nature.

When should I go?

All the time, whenever you can get off the grid! At the most, overlanding is entirely based on weather conditions. But, there is no set time on when you can set off on your overlanding adventure. It’s all up to when you feel it is best to fulfill your desire to overland.
