GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK

The kid in you will love to sled down the sand at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This sandbox of epic proportions, is a total of 30 square miles and the tallest dune stands at 750 feet high. Aside from the dunes, you will find picnicking, hiking and camping opportunities, the challenging four-wheel scenic drive on Medano Pass, the mysteriously appearing and disappearing Medano Creek and a couple of 14,000 and 13,000-foot peaks to climb.

The Great Sand Dunes National Park can be visited any time of the year. The best times to visit are in the spring when Medano Creek starts to run.
